Joan is a graduate of York University where she completed her Specialized Honors B.A. in Kinesiology & her Athletic Therapy Certification. She pursued her Massage Therapy License and Cupping Certification from the Royal Canadian Massage Therapy College. In addition, she holds two Health Science Diplomas from Humber College.
Joan’s practitioner experience includes but is not limited to acute and postoperative care, chronic care, concussion management, taping & bracing, strength & conditioning; hydrotherapy, studio & virtual fitness class instruction, geriatric long-term care and community services. Additionally, her skillet includes: Manual Therapy techniques, Cupping, Blading, Fascial Therapy, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Lymphatic Drainage, Pre-Natal Massage & being a certified Emergency Medical and First Responder. Her field experience includes being a therapist for the Men’s Rugby & Volleyball teams at Humber College; Men’s and Women’s Waterpolo, Men’s Basketball and Football and Women’s Field Hockey at York University. Joan aspires to enhance her practice by continuing her education in osteopathy & acquiring her acupuncture license.
Some of her professional achievements include being the current Head Therapist for the Power FC Academy & The Toronto Buccaneers RFC; a Medical Practitioner for the Athletics Games’ Core Medical Team during the Toronto Pan Am/Para Pan Am Games, Special Olympics, MLSE Toronto FC Youth Camps & receiving two honorary gold pins for fifteen plus years of support staff service within the University Health Network and Sunnybrook Hospital.
Joan is an advocate of client-centered care & collaborative practice for restoring function and mitigating disability. Joan’s treatment style includes a strong skillet of manual techniques and an intuitive approach to care. Clients are met with individualized treatment plans that bolster their education & active engagement in treatment which Joan believes addresses their health concerns & also enhances their quality of care, sport, career & life.
